About the position

The Warehouse Lead Industrial Engineer position at Ryder focuses on supporting the Continuous Improvement culture by applying engineering methodologies and continuous improvement methods to enhance operations. The role involves leading change initiatives through data-driven approaches to improve performance metrics such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. The Lead Engineer will work closely with various levels of employees and may manage continuous improvement resources, reporting to the CI Manager or Sr. CI Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis to identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and execute a continuous improvement plan to drive value for customers.
  • Manage and complete high-impact continuous improvement projects to enhance business results.
  • Support start-ups, retrofits, and expansions, including pricing inputs and certifications.
  • Identify and support automation projects within the operation.
  • Coach employees in the use of continuous improvement, quality assurance, and lean principles.
  • Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, ensuring follow-up on sustainment.
  • Provide regular reports on data and actions to measure progress against site objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with seven years of related experience, or a Master's degree with five years of experience.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering methods and data analysis functions.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing Lean tools and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management operations and data analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate skills in data visualization tools like PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Experience with warehouse design tools such as AutoCAD and slotting systems.
  • Knowledge of material handling solutions and automation types.
  • Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, ISO/QMS, and APICS.
