About the position

The Warehouse Lead Industrial Engineer position at Ryder focuses on supporting the Continuous Improvement culture within the organization. The role involves applying continuous improvement methods to enhance operations, drive change, and improve performance metrics such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. The Lead Engineer will leverage data analytics and engineering methodologies to identify and eliminate root causes of inefficiencies, while also managing continuous improvement resources and collaborating with various levels of staff across the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis to identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and execute a continuous improvement plan to drive value for customers.
  • Manage and complete high-impact continuous improvement projects that lead to improved business results.
  • Support start-ups, retrofits, and expansions, including pricing inputs and certifications.
  • Identify and support automation projects within the operation.
  • Coach employees in the use and implementation of continuous improvement and Lean principles.
  • Facilitate Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, ensuring follow-up on results and sustainment.
  • Provide regular reports on data and actions to measure progress against site objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and seven years of related experience, or a Master's degree with five years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems, particularly SAP EWM, and data analysis functions.
  • Knowledge of material handling solutions and warehouse operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with PowerBI and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau and database programming (SQL, DAX).
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies and certifications such as cPMP or APICS.
