About the position

The Warehouse Lead Industrial Engineer position at Ryder focuses on supporting the Continuous Improvement culture by applying engineering methodologies and data-driven continuous improvement (CI) methods to enhance operational performance. The role involves leading CI initiatives, managing high-impact projects, and collaborating with various stakeholders to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development. This position requires a strong analytical background and the ability to coach others in CI principles and lean methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis to identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and execute a continuous improvement plan to drive value for customers.
  • Manage and complete high-impact CI projects that lead to improved business results.
  • Support start-ups, retrofits, and expansions, including pricing inputs and certifications.
  • Identify and support automation projects to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Coach employees in the use and implementation of CI, Quality Assurance, and Lean principles.
  • Facilitate Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, ensuring effective execution and follow-up.
  • Provide regular reports on data and actions to measure progress against site objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and seven years of related experience, or a Master's degree with five years of experience.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering methods and data analysis functions.
  • Proficiency in Lean tools and quality standards, including Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management operations and industrial engineering principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate skills in data visualization tools like PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Experience with warehouse design tools such as AutoCAD and slotting software.
  • Knowledge of material handling solutions and automation types.
  • Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, and APICS.
