About the position

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is seeking a Warehouse Logistics Specialist who will report to the Assistant Vice President of Warehousing and Logistics. This role is responsible for analyzing and implementing process improvement efficiencies and monitoring warehousing, inventory, and transportation operations. The Warehouse Logistics Specialist will provide ongoing, high-quality administrative support with project management responsibility, working directly with the Assistant Vice President of Warehousing and Logistics. The position is essential in maintaining and improving process efficiencies for the transportation, warehouse, and inventory control teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining and continually improving process efficiencies for the transportation, warehouse, and inventory control teams.
  • Create and utilize business metrics and benchmarks for all warehousing, transportation, and inventory control processes.
  • Assist in designing and delivering annual work plans for warehousing, inventory, and transportation operations.
  • Work with other Department Heads to proactively identify issues, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Schedule, plan, and organize meetings, including taking notes and posting meeting notes.
  • Execute assigned projects, including data consolidation and web searches.
  • Create, manage, and distribute spreadsheets, reports, and presentations.
  • Identify potential vendors and obtain quotes as needed.
  • Assist with inventory control, including cycle counting activities.
  • Provide back-up to other administrative functions as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong quantitative orientation, data analysis, and presentation skills.
  • Critical thinking skills related to warehouse, inventory, and transportation operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate and obtain certification for material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, food safety, and other applicable rules and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fleet maintenance and utilization of material handling equipment.
  • Experience in creating and managing budgets.
  • Knowledge and experience with WMS & ERP systems and DOT regulations.
