About the position

The Warehouse Manager / Purchasing Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating all warehouse activities and operations, ensuring adherence to established procedures. This role also involves purchasing duties to maintain adequate and timely supplies of materials and equipment. The position aims to enhance the effectiveness and financial performance of the supply chain while promoting a safe workplace and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all warehouse activities in support of service and construction operations, including receiving, storing, picking, and shipping materials.
  • Review, analyze, modify, and implement efficient department processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain strict inventory control and ensure accurate and timely shipments and receipts.
  • Enforce established safety guidelines and promote a safe workplace.
  • Maintain accurate records and metrics, performing audits as necessary.
  • Perform quarterly and/or annual physical inventories and provide inventory reports.
  • Process returned, rejected, and obsolete parts.
  • Establish and maintain professional communication with vendors in alignment with corporate practices.
  • Manage expenses within approved budget constraints.
  • Identify, document, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Hire, train, supervise, motivate, and develop warehouse staff; manage schedules and workflow.
  • Assign duties and monitor quality of work, ensuring staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates, promoting and recognizing performance.
  • Direct salvage of damaged or used material and ensure proper labeling and separation of materials.
  • Perform Request for Quote (RFQ) procedures for assigned area to ensure best practices are honored.
  • Compare vendor acknowledgments with purchase orders for accuracy and commitment.
  • Track and communicate delivery of products according to job demands and schedules.
  • Resolve product errors by communicating with relevant internal customers.
  • Support Shop Technicians and Warehouse Manager with emergency orders and inventory counts.
  • Report stock inventory needs based on reporting and support Purchasing Manager in achieving minimum shrink counts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of warehouse experience required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Fire Life Safety equipment, material, and tools highly preferred.
  • Forklift experience and current certifications/licenses as necessary.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use Microsoft Office with intermediate Excel skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Fire Life Safety equipment, material, and tools; highly preferred.
