About the position

The Warehouse Operations Manager I is responsible for overseeing the efficient day-to-day operations of a warehouse, focusing on personnel management and the implementation of operational plans. This role involves managing a warehouse space of 100,000 to 500,000 square feet, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and optimizing the use of resources to meet operational goals. The position requires collaboration with the General Manager and other leaders to enhance productivity and employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic plan in conjunction with the General Manager to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure efficient shipping and receiving work schedules to meet operational goals.
  • Direct the operations of warehouse supervisors and personnel.
  • Oversee all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Audit compliance with internal and external SOPs.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of equipment and resources.
  • Review daily work objectives and determine productivity requirements for shifts.
  • Partner with leaders to balance labor and staffing according to workload.
  • Conduct analysis of workload versus labor hours and equipment usage.
  • Plan long-term labor needs based on sales forecasts and historical data.
  • Make recommendations to improve warehouse operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems, preferably Manhattan.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with warehouse/mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations, and willingness to become certified in these areas.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle changing priorities.
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean/Six Sigma tools is a plus.
  • Excellent talent management and team-building skills.
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills, particularly with external clients.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
