About the position

As a Warehouse Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our warehouse operations run smoothly and efficiently. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the receipt, selection, and delivery of products to our stores, catering to our growing customer base. This position requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and operational excellence. You will work an average of 50 hours per week, leading a team of dedicated individuals in both ambient and temperature-controlled environments. A comprehensive training and safety program will be provided to equip you and your team with the necessary skills to succeed in this dynamic role. In this position, you will assess and establish appropriate staffing levels within the warehouse, ensuring that you recruit, select, promote, manage, develop, and, when necessary, terminate associates and Operations supervisors. Your leadership will be vital in fostering a motivated and professional workforce. You will also manage relationships with on-site partner companies, addressing operational concerns and ensuring that service standards are met. Your ability to communicate effectively with your team and peers will be essential in developing and implementing action plans aimed at improving operational results. You will be responsible for supervising the activities of warehouse personnel, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of day-to-day operations. This includes monitoring inbound and outbound deliveries, verifying product receipt, and ensuring compliance with company guidelines. You will also oversee the performance of your direct reports, focusing on training, development, motivation, retention, and discipline. Your role will require you to address complaints promptly and ensure equitable treatment of all warehouse personnel. Additionally, you will be tasked with managing warehouse controllable expenses and ensuring that operations align with established policies and regulations. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making adaptability and problem-solving skills crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and establish appropriate warehouse staffing levels.
  • Recruit, select, promote, manage, develop, and terminate associates and Operations supervisors.
  • Manage relationships with on-site partner companies and communicate operational change concerns.
  • Work with direct reports to develop and implement action plans to improve operating results.
  • Communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to the team.

  • Ensure service provided by 3rd party partner companies meets acceptable standards.
  • Provide feedback and resolve issues with management of 3rd party partners and vendors.
  • Coordinate with peers and divisional departments to communicate relevant information.
  • Review and analyze the competitive landscape and keep leadership informed of ALDI's position.
  • Supervise recruitment and interviewing of applicants with direct reports.
  • Develop and recommend changes to improve policies and procedures.
  • Supervise warehouse personnel activities for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Monitor inspections of inbound and outbound deliveries for compliance.
  • Oversee performance of direct reports in training, development, and motivation.
  • Manage supervisors to influence operating results and promote a safe work environment.
  • Ensure equitable treatment of warehouse personnel and address complaints promptly.
  • Supervise effective use of warehouse facilities for maximum space utilization.
  • Oversee achievement of warehouse controllable expenses and ensure results are within expectations.
  • Oversee shipping plans and facilitate order changes as needed.
  • Ensure direct reports monitor conditions and employee performance for safety.
  • Review personnel adherence to inventory procedures and minimize losses.
  • Oversee compliance with established policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year experience in an ALDI management role required for internal candidates.
  • A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge is acceptable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to recommend, interpret, and apply ALDI operating policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of products and services of the company.
  • Ability to utilize office computers and related software for operational needs.
  • Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication with direct reports.
  • Ability to evaluate work performance and motivate behavior change among direct reports.
  • Ability to facilitate group involvement in meetings.
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in warehouse management or logistics is a plus.
