About the position

The position oversees warehouse and operational functions for a larger facility, focusing on logistics, warehousing, and inventory management. The role involves managing supervisors and office staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining the security of the building and products. The manager is responsible for the effectiveness of warehouse processes and for fostering productive relationships with vendors and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee warehouse processes including inventory management, transportation, customer service, and personnel.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on warehouse operating conditions.
  • Communicate issues and decisions to the Regional manager and other departments.
  • Maintain warehouse facilities and ensure cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and shippers.
  • Lead personnel through objective setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Conduct regular meetings to inform staff of policy changes.
  • Enforce productivity standards and coordinate personnel scheduling.
  • Manage the development and performance feedback of warehouse personnel.
  • Work with Human Resources on hiring, training, and management issues.
  • Proactively manage safety programs and conduct monthly safety meetings.
  • Investigate accidents and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Support loss prevention efforts and ensure security of facilities.
  • Partner with Sales to meet customer needs effectively.
  • Assist with strategic priorities, project management, and process improvements.
  • Manage warehouse operational expenses to meet financial goals.
  • Motivate and encourage teamwork within the workforce.
  • Train staff and monitor their performance and progress.
  • Oversee planned maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Prepare capital and operational budgets for the facility.
  • Determine efficient layout for product flow in the warehouse.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or 2 years of warehouse/operations experience or 6 years of warehouse/operations experience.
  • Proven leadership skills in a supervisory warehouse or operational role.
  • Knowledgeable in material handling and inventory documentation.
  • Understanding of budgeting, supply contracts, and shipping requirements.
  • Excellent math, accounting, and financial interpretation skills.
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to project a positive image to customers.
  • Demonstrated product, technical, and customer service knowledge.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
