About the position

The Operations Manager will lead, manage, and oversee all aspects of a warehouse operation for an Aerospace Metals Distribution Company located in Cypress, California. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient functioning of an 8-person staff and a 37,000 square foot facility. The Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, focusing on productivity, safety, quality, delivery, and inventory management. This position requires a strong background in manufacturing, warehouse management, and Lean Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. The Operations Manager will implement Lean principles to eliminate waste and reduce costs, supervise and train warehouse staff, and ensure adherence to work schedules and job assignments. They will manage equipment and machinery maintenance, fulfill objectives from the Division Manager, and partner with the Corporate Operational Excellence team to standardize best practices. Safety is paramount, and the Operations Manager will maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies, reporting all incidents and near misses. Quality control is another essential aspect of this role, as the Operations Manager will perform quality checks on processed orders, act as the site quality representative, and utilize quality management software. They will also oversee production planning, ensuring timely delivery and efficient workflow, while managing inventory through cycle counting and ERP systems. The Operations Manager will be expected to handle various duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily operations of the warehouse and staff.
• Implement Lean principles to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Supervise, schedule, train, and hold employees accountable for their work.
• Ensure adherence to created work schedules and effective job assignments.
• Manage equipment and machinery maintenance through preventative programs.
• Communicate objectives and updates to the Division Manager and executive leadership.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
• Perform quality checks on processed orders and manage quality control processes.
• Oversee production planning and delivery metrics to ensure efficiency.
• Control inventory through cycle counting and ERP systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in Operations, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in the metals service or aerospace industry is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to multitask and strong organizational skills.
• Proficient with computers and email usage.
• Lean Six Sigma certification required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in warehouse logistics and management.
• Familiarity with band saws, cold saws, and metal cutting processes.
