About the position

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operational performance within the warehouse. This role involves overseeing processes, compliance, and team development to meet customer and supplier service levels. The manager will communicate effectively with team members and leadership, ensuring operational consistency and performance through the use of key performance indicators (KPIs). This position is critical in the supply chain, providing visibility to senior leadership and customers, and requires a high level of professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Role model team-member safety and food-safety through all actions.
  • Provide and maintain a safe and healthy working environment for employees and visitors.
  • Ensure that Customer, Supplier, and Carrier needs are met at or above service levels set by the company.
  • Communicate effectively to your team, colleagues, and manager.
  • Recruit, hire, train, maintain, and lead a team of highly qualified individuals to achieve company objectives.
  • Maintain GDP certification and achieve top scores in Food Certification.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are communicated, trained, understood, followed, and enforced.
  • Ensure accurate and timely transactions for all material movements.
  • Update, publish, and communicate reports accurately and timely.
  • Leverage KPIs to ensure operational consistency and performance.
  • Identify, develop, and implement procedural changes to improve safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of operations.
  • Provide necessary resources (equipment, supplies, labor) to the operation and document needs.
  • Create a positive carrier and driver experience to be viewed as a 'Shipper of Choice'.
  • Stay current on industry and business trends for personal and team development.
  • Insist on accountability by communicating standards of behavior and performance, coaching, counseling, and correcting as needed.
  • Anticipate operational needs and develop plans to address them, involving others early in the process.
  • Create and manage a budget, preparing justifications and business cases for operational improvements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve shipping capacity and effectiveness.
  • Monitor industry trends to keep the site modern and competitive.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus in operations management, project management, logistics management, or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional attention to project detail and ability to develop alternative plans for timely delivery of supplies and materials.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite including Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to align and influence others.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.

  • Experience managing multiple logistics locations.
