At American Furniture Warehouse, we are seeking dedicated Team Members to join our mission of providing customers with the highest quality furniture at the best price. The Order Puller Associate plays a crucial role in our operations by stocking incoming merchandise and fulfilling customer orders. Our commitment to customer satisfaction means that customers can pick up their furniture and take it home the same day, and you will be an essential part of making that happen. As an Order Puller, you will be responsible for safely operating various warehouse equipment, including Stock Pickers, Reach Trucks, and Sit Down Forklifts, to transport merchandise for customers and other departments. We provide comprehensive training and certification for all equipment, ensuring that you are well-prepared to perform your duties safely and efficiently. In this fast-paced environment, you will have the opportunity to work in multiple departments, allowing for cross-training and skill development. We value safety and teamwork, and you will be expected to adhere to safety protocols while interacting constructively with fellow associates. This position offers flexible scheduling, with the requirement to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as our retail operation runs seven days a week from 10 am to 10 pm. Some shifts may also be overnight, with additional pay premiums for those hours.
Responsibilities
- Stock incoming merchandise and fill customer orders.
- Safely operate a Stock Picker, Reach Truck, Sit Down Forklift, and other necessary equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Operate material handling equipment to move products within the warehouse.
- Use a radio frequency (RF) scanner to track inventory.
- Work as a team member, communicating and interacting cooperatively with fellow associates.
- Perform lifting and handling of merchandise up to 100 lbs and manipulate items up to 250 lbs frequently.
Requirements
- Previous experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and cherry pickers is helpful but not required.
- Commitment to safety in the workplace.
- Knowledge of correct lifting and team lifting techniques.
- Ability to work at heights, filling orders 0 to 35 feet above the ground.
- Flexibility to work all shifts, holidays, and weekends.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a warehouse environment is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
