About the position

The Warehouse Person is responsible for pulling, storing, and distributing materials and products in a warehouse environment. This role involves operating powered industrial trucks, managing inventory through bar code scanning, and ensuring the safe and efficient handling of materials. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work area while performing various warehouse tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Operates powered industrial trucks to move and control materials.
  • Directs the positioning of forks and lifting devices under or around loaded pallets and transports loads to designated areas.
  • Uses bar code scanning equipment to track inventory and supply materials as needed.
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags or production schedules.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets and other designated areas by hand or powered industrial truck.
  • Recharges batteries and maintains powered industrial trucks.
  • Reads production schedules and customer orders to determine items to be moved or distributed.
  • Moves, stacks, or un-stacks materials from storage or production areas.
  • Sorts and places materials on racks or shelves according to predetermined sequences.
  • Fills requisitions and distributes items to production workers or assembly lines.
  • Marks materials with identifying information and records amounts received or distributed.
  • Cleans work area, machines, and equipment, following safety procedures.
  • Reports unsafe actions and maintains a clean work area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or three to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift Certification and ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck certification.
  • Computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Forklift experience (1 year preferred).
  • Warehouse experience (1 year preferred).
