About the position

The Warehouse Senior Industrial Engineer at Ryder System Inc. plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement across operations. The engineer will be responsible for identifying and implementing changes that drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role requires a proactive approach to data-driven continuous improvement (CI) initiatives, where the engineer will leverage advanced lean tools and statistical analysis to identify root causes of inefficiencies and develop effective solutions. In this position, the engineer will collect and analyze data, map processes, and independently identify gaps in operations. They will be tasked with developing and managing a comprehensive continuous improvement plan that aligns with the company's objectives and drives value for customers. The engineer will also manage CI projects, ensuring that they lead to tangible improvements in key business metrics. Regular interaction with operations management and customers is expected, as the engineer will provide insights and recommendations based on their assessments of CI initiatives. The role also involves coaching employees in the use of CI and Lean principles, facilitating Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events, and ensuring that all CI activities are documented and reported effectively. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining quality management systems and supporting regulatory compliance, making this position integral to the success of both new and existing operations. Responsibilities

  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis to identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and manage a continuous improvement plan to drive value for customers.
  • Manage and complete CI and steady-state engineering projects that lead to improved business results.
  • Support go-live and steady-state certifications and identify automation projects.
  • Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, coaching process owners on lean methods.
  • Provide regular reports of data and actions to measure progress against site objectives.
  • Design, implement, monitor, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system.
  • Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements.
  • Perform all functions related to Quality Assurance for start-ups or expansions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and five years of related work experience, or a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management with three years of related experience.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX).
  • Functional experience in developing and managing Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, and Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA).
  • Intermediate understanding of core engineering and data analysis functions such as slotting, utilization, labor planning, and layouts.
  • Intermediate knowledge of warehouse design tools such as CAD, slotting systems, and Warehouse Management Systems.
