About the position

The Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer at Ryder is responsible for enhancing operational efficiency through the application of continuous improvement methodologies. This role involves identifying process gaps, implementing improvements, and leveraging data analytics to drive performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The engineer will work closely with various teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensure the successful execution of engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Collect data and perform statistical analysis to identify process gaps.
• Develop and manage a continuous improvement plan to drive value for customers.
• Drive process improvement activities to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics.
• Manage and complete continuous improvement and engineering projects.
• Support go-live and steady-state certifications for CI initiatives.
• Coach employees in the use of continuous improvement and lean principles.
• Facilitate Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events to achieve operational excellence.
• Provide regular reports on progress against site objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and five years of related experience, or a Master's degree with three years of experience.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Intermediate knowledge of data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX).
• Experience in developing and managing Lean tools and methodologies such as PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen.
• Intermediate understanding of core engineering and data analysis functions.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of warehouse management operations and data analytics.
• Familiarity with warehouse design tools such as CAD and slotting software.
• Experience with transportation design tools and management systems.
• Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, ISO/QMS certifications.
