About the position

The Warehouse Senior Industrial Engineer position at Ryder focuses on enhancing operational efficiency through continuous improvement methodologies. The role involves leveraging data analytics and engineering principles to identify process gaps and implement improvements that drive performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The engineer will collaborate with various levels of the organization to foster a culture of continuous improvement and support automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis.
  • Map and document processes.
  • Independently identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and manage a continuous improvement plan to drive customer value.
  • Drive process improvement activities to enhance key business metrics.
  • Manage and complete continuous improvement and engineering projects.
  • Assess CI initiatives and provide recommendations for future activities.
  • Support go-live and steady state certifications.
  • Identify and support automation projects.
  • Interact regularly with operations management and customers.
  • Coach employees in CI, Quality Assurance, and Lean principles.
  • Apply engineering methodologies and tools to improve operations.
  • Facilitate Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events.
  • Provide regular reports on data and actions to measure progress against objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and five years of related experience, or a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management with three years of related experience.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Intermediate skills in data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX).
  • Functional experience in developing and managing Lean tools and methodologies such as PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen.
  • Intermediate understanding of core engineering and data analysis functions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of warehouse design tools such as CAD and slotting systems.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems and Labor Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of material handling solutions and automation types.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or cPMP preferred.
  • APICS or Supply Chain Logistics Certification preferred.
