The Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer position at Ryder is a pivotal role within the Supply Chain Solutions division, located on the west side of the Indianapolis area. This position is designed to support and enhance the Ryder Continuous Improvement culture across operations by actively applying continuous improvement methodologies to both new and existing operations. The engineer will be responsible for identifying and driving change within the operation through data-driven continuous improvement, engineering, and automation efforts, ultimately aiming to achieve higher performance levels in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role requires effective use of data analytics, engineering methodologies, and advanced lean tools to facilitate root cause identification and elimination, ensuring that improvements are sustainable and impactful. In this role, the engineer will collect data and perform statistical analyses, map and document processes, and independently identify process gaps. They will recommend and implement process improvements while developing and managing a comprehensive continuous improvement plan that drives value for customers. The engineer will also manage and complete continuous improvement and steady-state engineering projects that lead to improved business results, assess CI initiatives, and provide input and recommendations on future activities. Regular interaction with operations management and customers is expected, as well as the identification and support of automation projects. The engineer will be expected to develop and demonstrate competency in a wide range of engineering methods, lean tools, and quality standards, coaching employees in the use and implementation of continuous improvement, quality assurance, and lean principles. They will apply various engineering methodologies and tools, such as product slotting, labor standards studies, layout optimization, data profiling, and resource modeling, to enhance distribution and transportation operations. Additionally, the engineer will facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, ensuring effective follow-up and sustainment of improvements. Regular reporting of data and actions to measure progress against site objectives is a key responsibility, along with making recommendations related to inventory and supply chain strategies. The role also includes designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) based on established company and industry standards, supporting regulatory compliance and certification requirements, and performing all functions related to Quality Assurance for start-up or expansion projects.
