About the position
The Warehouse Shipper is responsible for the efficient receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse and associated facilities. This role involves operating forklifts and other equipment to manage inventory, ensuring accuracy in shipments, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Unload trucks using forklifts, hand trucks, and other methods; move all materials.
- Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed via computer system.
- Verify received goods are accurate with the order placed.
- Sort goods to determine final destination.
- Deliver goods to plants using forklifts and hand trucks.
- Stock shelves and store merchandise in designated places in the warehouse.
- Pack or wrap merchandise for storage.
- Conduct physical inventory counts.
- Ensure the warehouse is accessible and safe for others.
- Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate methods.
- Dispose of hazardous and controlled wastes appropriately.
Requirements
- Able to work in a production environment.
- Able to read and comprehend English.
- Able to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 25 lbs continuously.
- Able to read, write, and understand simple instructions and correspondence.
- Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and vendors.
- Able to follow detailed written or oral instructions.
Nice-to-haves
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 1 to 3 months of training or experience.
- OSHA forklift certification.
