About the position

The Warehouse Supervisor at Zekelman Industries is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily shipping activities within the warehouse. This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety policies and procedures while meeting shipping goals. The supervisor will also be involved in training, reporting, and communication with management and sales to enhance performance and resolve any operational issues.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes safe practices and holds teammates accountable for adherence to safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Actively promotes safety awareness and continuous improvement through observation and team input.
  • Notifies appropriate management of work injuries, performs incident or accident investigations, and completes appropriate reports.
  • Effectively directs hourly workforce using leadership skills to ensure day-to-day shipping goals and objectives are met.
  • Issues discipline as needed.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves all Automated Warehouse related issues and faults promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Ensures stacking and loading procedures are followed to prevent injury to personnel and damage to material.
  • Implements warehouse projects and action plans to achieve shipping goals.
  • Communicates with sales as needed to generate improved performance.
  • Fosters an innovative and collaborative environment.
  • Facilitates and promotes training to meet quality expectations by ensuring all employees are trained to perform their respective jobs.
  • Generates daily shipping reports and communicates results, reporting any Automated Warehouse or maintenance related issues and shift events to management team to prevent delays or reoccurrences.
  • Responsible for daily staffing requirements including reassignments, transfers or mandatory over requirements as needed.
  • Works with Production management to plan and coordinate daily workload and instructions.
  • Participates in continuous improvement projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years Supervisor experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing/shipping environment.
  • Automated Warehouse, MES, TMS experience required, must have the ability to understand and clear faults as required.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Willingness to become First aid and CPR first responder trained.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer experience leading in the Pipe & Tube Industry.
  • SAP experience preferred but not required.
