About the position
UNFI is seeking dedicated Warehouse Workers to join our team in Iowa City, IA. This position offers a starting pay of $19.59 per hour, with opportunities for pay increases based on tenure, reaching up to $23.05 per hour after three years. Additionally, employees can earn an extra $2.00 per hour for shifts worked on Sundays. The role is full-time with a structured schedule that allows for a four-day work week, providing a balanced work-life environment. Employees are paid weekly and can also benefit from a generous $2,000 referral bonus for bringing in new team members. As a Warehouse Worker, you will be responsible for identifying pick locations and safely picking items as per the order requirements. This includes inspecting assigned equipment for safety issues, ensuring the correct pick location and sequence, and accurately picking the correct items and quantities. You will also be tasked with labeling and shrink-wrapping items, staging pallets appropriately, and maintaining a clean work area. Safety is a top priority, and you will be expected to report any potential safety threats or violations of company policy immediately to a supervisor or manager. The role requires operating a pallet jack or pushcart safely and efficiently, contributing to a productive warehouse environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify the pick locations and safely pick the items.
- Inspect assigned equipment for safety issues.
- Identify the correct pick location, Master Case locations, and pick sequence in accordance with the order.
- Pick the correct item and quantity, checking UPCs or item descriptions.
- Place pick labels on the side of the cases.
- Shrink wrap and label with correct truck, stop, and other required information.
- Stage pallets in appropriate bay and build a stable and well-cubed pallet.
- Immediately inform a supervisor or manager of any potential safety threats or violations of company policy.
- Keep the work area clean and free of debris.
- Operate pallet jack/pushcart in a safe and efficient manner.
Requirements
- Warehouse experience preferred.
- Ability to lift objects weighing from less than 20lbs to 60lbs consistently.
- Occasional pushing, sitting, touching, reaching, climbing, pulling, and gripping required.
- Must have the ability to work in various temperatures.
- Available for work on Sundays.
- Must be 18 years or older.
