About the position

The Warehouse Worker position at the Navy Exchange Service Command involves performing various duties related to receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping merchandise within a distribution center. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to established procedures to ensure efficient operations and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and unloads incoming merchandise deliveries.
  • Opens, inspects, counts, marks, unpacks, segregates, and tags items.
  • Verifies items against documentation to ensure accuracy in received items and quantities.
  • Warehouses stock according to specified locations and checks for location accuracy.
  • Pulls merchandise for shipment, transfers, or customer orders as directed.
  • Assists in the charge back area with tasks related to over shipped or damaged merchandise.
  • Performs periodic inventories and assists with inventory preparation.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of stock areas.
  • Operates material handling equipment (MHE) to move and transport merchandise.
  • Carries out assigned duties under the supervision of a designated supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Eighteen months of experience in warehousing duties such as receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping.
  • Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 40lbs and sometimes over 50lbs with assistance.
  • Hazardous Material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience operating material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
