About the position
The Warehouse Worker position involves performing various duties related to receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping merchandise within a distribution center. The role requires attention to detail in verifying incoming shipments, organizing stock, and maintaining cleanliness in the warehouse environment. The worker will operate material handling equipment and assist in inventory management under the supervision of a designated supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Receives and unloads incoming merchandise deliveries.
- Opens, inspects, counts, marks, unpacks, segregates, and tags items.
- Verifies items against appropriate documentation to ensure correct items and quantities have been received.
- Checks cost and retail prices, reports shortages, overages, damaged items, or any discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Warehouses stock according to specified locations and checks labels or bins for location accuracy.
- Pulls merchandise for shipment, transfers, or customer orders as directed by the system or supervisor.
- Assists in the charge back area with tasks related to over shipped or damaged merchandise.
- Performs periodic inventories and assists supervisor with inventory preparation.
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness in stock areas.
- Operates material handling equipment (MHE) to move, load, or unload merchandise.
Requirements
- Eighteen months of experience performing warehousing related duties such as receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping.
- Knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position acquired through experience or education.
Nice-to-haves
- High school diploma or GED may substitute for experience.
