About the position

The Warehouse Worker position at the Oglala Sioux Tribe involves managing the distribution of commodity foods within a warehouse setting. The role requires knowledge of warehouse operations and is supervised by the Program Director or designated supervisor. The worker will be responsible for inventory control, organization of items, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and take accurate monthly and daily inventory of the warehouse merchandise.
  • Keep written reports on commodity participants every month and submit them to the Commodity Clerk.
  • Responsible for storage and organization of items using the first in, first out principle.
  • Perform duties related to inventory control, receiving distribution, and issuing items in compliance with department procedures.
  • Receive, stack, rotate, and distribute all food in the warehouse daily.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory control and compliance with department procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all information regarding clients.
  • Perform minimal maintenance and janitorial cleaning to maintain a clean/safe working environment.
  • Participate in all facets of warehousing activity operations and delivery activities.
  • Perform other position/program related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must abide by all policies and guidelines of the program and the OST Personnel Policies and Procedures.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written orders and instructions.
  • Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with other employees and the public.
  • Must be able to accurately fill out forms provided by the OST Tribe when applicable.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and honest.
  • Must be able to stack and load cases of various types of commodities by manual labor without difficulty, involving heavy lifting.
  • Must have knowledge of monthly breakdown of commodities for each person every month in each district.
  • Must maintain confidentiality regarding all information pertaining to clients and complete HIPAA/Privacy Act training within six months of hire.
  • Will be required to attend job-related in-services, meetings, and trainings to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  • Will be required to participate in FDPIR conferences/trainings and health fairs.
  • Ability to operate a variety of machines and equipment including forklifts and hand-trucks, as needed, and to receive training and certification.
  • Will be required to train and update periodically on the USDA Food Management Systems within six months of hire.
