About the position

Group W is seeking a Wargaming Operations Research Analyst to support a government client in Dumfries, VA. The successful candidate will leverage military communication skills to assist clients through the planning, execution, and documentation of analytical studies. These studies will employ a variety of methods including operations research, statistics, data science, modeling and simulation, and wargaming. The role is critical in developing wargaming systems and tools that meet the specific requirements and objectives of Department of Defense (DoD) clients. In this position, the analyst will implement, operate, and analyze wargame and logistics tools to assess DoD force capabilities and future initiatives. The candidate will apply their skills to solve complex problems using statistical analysis, parametric and non-parametric analysis, computer modeling, simulation, and regression analysis. As an analyst, the individual will be responsible for developing and executing analytical models and methods that support warfighting analyses. Additionally, the analyst will advise other operations research analysts, scientists, or engineers on the most effective techniques for addressing tasked problems. The role also involves guiding team members, utilizing study lead management skills to provide quality control and mentorship. Effective communication of study results to analysts and senior leaders is essential, ensuring that findings are clearly articulated and actionable.

Responsibilities

  • Develops wargaming systems and tools to meet the requirements and objectives of DoD clients
  • Implements, operates, and analyzes wargame and logistics tools to assess DoD force capabilities and future initiatives
  • Applies skills to solve complex problems using statistical analysis, parametric and non-parametric analysis, computer modeling, simulation, and regression analysis
  • Serves as an analyst responsible for developing and executing analytical models and methods that support warfighting analyses
  • Advises other operations research analysts, scientists, or engineers on techniques best suited for tasked problems
  • Guides team members utilizing study lead management skills providing quality control and mentorship
  • Effectively communicates study results to analysts and/or senior leaders

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in economics, management science, operations research, or an applied science discipline
  • 3+ years' experience in operations research
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
  • Prior experience with the implementation, operation and analysis of wargames and logistical tools to assess DoD force capabilities and future initiatives
  • 5+ years' experience in military communications, specializing in satellite communications
