About the position

The Waste Water Treatment Operator is responsible for water treatment and distribution systems, including both potable water and waste water. This position involves the maintenance and repair of water distribution and treatment equipment, taking measurements of water quality, and adjusting chemicals to ensure compliance with parent-company standards. The operator works under the supervision of the Director of Quality Control and must effectively take direction.

Responsibilities

  • Add chemicals such as chlorine or lime to disinfect and treat water to meet standards.
  • Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
  • Check daily H2O reports at required intervals.
  • Check flow rates on the Conventional Lime Treatment System and sludge.
  • Collect samples for testing purposes both in-house and with third-party labs.
  • Record operational data or meter and gauge readings on specified forms.
  • Operate and adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water, process or dispose of sewage, and generate power.
  • Meet Steaming of Carbon Towers requirements and annual carbon Change-out.
  • Back wash and forward wash all sand filters and carbon towers.
  • Check UV systems.
  • Change polisher filters once a month.
  • Sanitize H2O system twice a year.
  • Rebuild lime sulfate pumps, isolators, etc.
  • Keep H2O room extremely clean and locked at all times.
  • Document influent of city water and effluents of the waste treatment flow rates.
  • Maintain proper levels of waste treatment chemicals.
  • Calibrate probes/monitors and test equipment.
  • Perform daily olfactory testing.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110.
  • Participate in various Food Safety related training.
  • Report potential issues related to Food Safety.
  • Exhibit a high level of ethical and moral conduct while at work.
  • Ensure safety of employee-partners, self, customers, and property.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
  • Prior waste water experience or work-related skill.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
