About the position

The Wastewater and Constructed Wetland Process Engineer at Jacobs is a pivotal role focused on leading high-stakes wastewater and effluent management projects while fostering strong client relationships. This position combines operational responsibilities with client service activities, allowing the engineer to be at the forefront of transformative municipal wastewater infrastructure projects in the Tampa Bay Region and beyond. The role emphasizes project delivery excellence, strategic business development, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage wastewater treatment and natural treatment systems projects from concept through detailed design, construction services, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to plan and deliver impactful projects that meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by delivering projects that exceed expectations while adhering to health, safety, quality, and risk management standards.
  • Engage in business development activities to secure new contracts through effective presentations and understanding of client needs.
  • Analyze water quality data and design treatment wetlands to develop innovative solutions for clients.
  • Mentor and support junior staff within the local and regional water group.
  • Contribute to the development of a Tampa Bay Area Market Strategy that diversifies and expands the client base.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in environmental engineering.
  • 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience with Wastewater and Constructed Wetland systems, planning, and municipal consulting.
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong understanding of industry standard tools and metrics associated with wastewater and constructed wetlands.
  • Proven history of contributing to project delivery teams to meet client expectations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
  • Adept at interpersonal relationship building and conflict resolution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong network with Tampa Bay Region municipalities.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related engineering discipline.
