About the position

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator is responsible for the daily operations of the plant, ensuring compliance with safety standards and seeking continuous improvements. This role requires a multi-task oriented individual who can work independently or as part of a team, with a focus on monitoring and maintaining plant processes and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the complete flow process of the wastewater treatment plant.
  • Monitor analytical equipment and make necessary chemical adjustments.
  • Perform minimal analytical lab work with a basic knowledge of chemistry and biology.
  • Maintain and repair individual problems as needed, particularly plumbing and electronic equipment.
  • Compute and document information from the treatment process.
  • Climb ladders up to 30 feet as required for plant operations.
  • Operate manual equipment such as pallet jacks for moving chemical drums weighing up to 750 lbs.
  • Operate power equipment including forklifts, tractors, and loaders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Follow specific safety procedures and care for safety equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatus.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow instructions with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills to report questions and problems to the supervisor.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in maintenance of plumbing and electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of chemical safety and associated hazards.
