The position is for a lead wastewater process engineer, focusing on conventional wastewater treatment processes and providing technical guidance to a process team while collaborating with multi-disciplinary design teams.

Responsibilities

  • Functions in a lead wastewater process engineer role as a technical specialist in conventional wastewater treatment.
  • Provides technical guidance over a process team and supervises engineering staff on projects.
  • Prepares complex engineering deliverables including process models, process/mass balance calculations, and design criteria.
  • Supports multiple projects simultaneously with complex technical challenges.
  • Performs complex research involving bench, pilot, and full-scale testing to assess treatment processes.
  • Develops recommendations for treatment processes, equipment, and materials selection.
  • Oversees data collection and management for process modeling and design work.
  • Communicates client interests and develops creative solutions to accommodate client goals.
  • Mentors junior engineers and assists with performance management processes.
  • Provides guidance on engineering standards and quality compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience in wastewater treatment.
  • Professional engineering license or ability to obtain one within 2 years of employment required.
  • Advanced knowledge of process design for municipal wastewater treatment and applicable design standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Doctoral) in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in wastewater treatment with at least 5 years in water quality and treatment.
  • Experience with modern process simulators such as BioWin, GPS-X, Sumo, and/or Simba#.
  • Established leadership skills with a deep understanding of consulting and project execution.
