About the position

The Wastewater Process Lead Engineer at Kennedy Jenks is a key role focused on providing advanced engineering solutions for wastewater treatment projects. This position involves managing projects, optimizing treatment processes, and serving as a subject matter expert while mentoring junior staff. The role emphasizes collaboration with clients and project teams to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions in the wastewater sector.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects focused on detailed design and project management of civil infrastructure projects, including wastewater treatment processes and plants.
  • Design and optimize wastewater treatment processes to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
  • Guide and mentor staff in feasibility studies, facility plans, and process pilot testing for complex wastewater projects.
  • Support client service managers and business development efforts as a technical subject matter expert in meetings and project interviews.
  • Participate in project pursuits and interviews, developing treatment process innovations and technical approaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in wastewater treatment engineering.
  • Practical professional engineer (PE) license required, with preference for licenses in multiple states (CA, CO, FL, HI, OR, TX, VA, WA).
  • Strong technical knowledge of the water/wastewater industry and wastewater process experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent client service and interact positively with clients.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Design-Build experience is a plus but not required.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

  • Experience in mentoring staff and leading project teams.
  • Familiarity with advanced engineering techniques and analysis for solution development.
