About the position

Heraeus Precious Metals is seeking a dedicated Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team in Santa Fe Springs, CA. This full-time position offers an hourly wage of $22 and is essential for maintaining the day-to-day operations of our wastewater treatment facility. The operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the assigned Water Control operation area, ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety Standards. The role requires a strong commitment to quality and safety, as well as effective communication skills to facilitate shift turnovers and collaboration with team members. The Wastewater Treatment Operator will have a working knowledge of water control processes and will be tasked with completing various process documentation forms, including batch tickets and discharge records. The operator will verify the calibration of pH/ORP meters, maintain scrubber operation logs, and ensure proper labeling of chemical containers. Additionally, the operator will be responsible for collecting and preparing samples for analysis, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to all safety guidelines and company policies. This position requires the ability to wear a half-mask respirator and a basic understanding of chemical reactions and properties relevant to the work area. The operator will also handle and process hazardous waste as required and must complete necessary training related to hazardous waste management. The ideal candidate will possess good written and verbal communication skills in English and be able to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and instructions from management.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain assigned Water Control operation area to meet HMP's expectations.
  • Complete process documentation forms such as batch tickets and discharge records.
  • Verify pH/ORP meter calibration for treatment systems and scrubbers.
  • Maintain scrubber operation logs and ensure proper labeling of chemical containers.
  • Collect and prepare samples for analysis accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Communicate effectively during shift turnovers using written and verbal skills in English.
  • Follow SOPs and all instructions assigned by management.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and applicable company policies.
  • Understand safety requirements and emergency procedures.
  • Handle and process hazardous waste as required.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in wastewater treatment (preferred)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Understanding of safety requirements and emergency procedures
  • Basic knowledge of chemical reactions and properties of chemicals in the work area
  • Ability to wear a half-mask respirator
