The City of Fresno is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Wastewater Treatment Plant Technicians. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities at a modern Class V secondary wastewater treatment plant. This position is critical to ensuring the effective treatment of wastewater, which is essential for public health and environmental protection. As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician, you will be expected to operate various machinery, monitor treatment processes, and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal plant performance. Incumbents in this position may be assigned to work any shift, including weekends and holidays, as the plant operates continuously. This is a flexibly-staffed series, allowing for advancement to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Specialist role upon obtaining the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade II Certificate. It is important to note that employees must complete a probationary period of up to eighteen months, during which they are expected to obtain the necessary certification. Failure to do so may result in termination from the position. The Wastewater Division of the Department of Public Utilities currently has vacancies, and candidates will be selected from an eligible list created from the examination process.
