About the position
Responsible for the participation of and oversight of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and construction work involving the City water distribution system.
Responsibilities
- Operates hand tools, power tools, light trucks, and small equipment.
- Oversees and participates in the operation and maintenance of the water distribution system.
- Performs lead work and directs and participates with a group of workers involved in a wide variety of planned and scheduled maintenance activities including operating small to medium equipment.
- Performs special worksite and traffic setup.
- Performs hydrostatic and bacteriological testing of new water lines.
- Locates water lines for contractors and plumbers.
- Performs routine inspections on new water installations.
- Monitors and completes all related paperwork.
- Digs ditches and trenches, lays pipe, installs and repairs valves.
- Performs other work as necessary and or as assigned.
- Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience as a trades helper or maintenance laborer in any of the construction and maintenance trades.
- Preferably includes some work experience involving the operation of light to medium construction equipment.
- At least one (1) year of experience leading and coordinating or providing general crew oversight or supervision.
Benefits
- Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class D driver's license is required.
- Must possess a class 'C' Water license issued by the State Department of Health, or ability to obtain license within nine (9) months of appointment.
