About the position

The Water Distribution Operator I is an entry-level position at Golden State Water Company, primarily focused on learning and performing tasks related to the maintenance and operation of a water distribution system. This role requires immediate to general supervision and involves various responsibilities, including installation, repair, and customer interaction, while ensuring adherence to safety procedures and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform various tasks associated with the maintenance and operation of a water distribution system.
• Learn the proper use of tools and equipment required to perform the job.
• Participate in the installation, repairs, and replacement of water mains, water services, valves, fire hydrants, and water meters under direction.
• Interact with customers and act as a representative of the Company.
• Perform meter reads, ons and offs, and field investigations.
• Conduct collection activities of delinquent accounts.
• Participate in routine maintenance activities such as system flushing, valve exercising, and fire hydrant maintenance.
• Follow established policies and procedures in the repair of equipment to ensure proper working order under direction.
• Operate company vehicles and equipment according to established safety procedures and policies.
• Be available for emergency response, 24 hours/day, seven days/week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Good communication skills.
• General PC skills.
• Valid California driver's license.
