About the position

The Water Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the engineering activities of the Public Works - Water Utilities Division, focusing on the development and implementation of capital improvement programs, utility systems planning, and managing design and construction projects. This role involves providing technical assessments, managing infrastructure projects, and facilitating communication between the Water Utilities Division and various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering activities of the Water Utilities Division including capital improvement programs and utility systems planning.
  • Review comprehensive reports and provide technical information and recommendations to the Public Works Director and City Manager's Office.
  • Participate in staff selection, training, and performance management.
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of engineering staff.
  • Prepare long-range plans and cost estimates, and develop the 10-year Capital Improvement Program.

Requirements

  • Seven years of experience as a professional engineer in water and wastewater utility design and construction.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a professional engineer in the State of Arizona.
