About the position

The University of Southern Maine's New England Environmental Finance Center (NEEFC) is seeking a Water Infrastructure Specialist / Technical Project Manager to support communities in accessing funding for water infrastructure projects. This role involves managing technical projects, providing expertise in water systems, and collaborating with various stakeholders to address the challenges faced by water systems. The position is ideal for individuals with a background in water utility operations or engineering, offering a chance to work on impactful projects while enjoying professional flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage technical projects related to water infrastructure.
  • Work directly with water systems and community stakeholders to address their needs.
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance in water systems and engineering.
  • Collaborate with the NEEFC Director, Deputy Director, and Water Infrastructure Program Manager.
  • Assist communities in accessing Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, environmental science, environmental management, sustainability, biology, public health, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility, regulatory, engineering, consulting, financing, or planning fields related to drinking water, wastewater, and/or stormwater.
  • Ability to provide own transportation (fully insured vehicle) and proof of a valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Water/Wastewater Operator certification or Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
