About the position
The Water Operator position at Bountiful City involves performing entry-level duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of the City's water production and distribution system. The role requires working under the supervision of experienced operators and involves operating various equipment and tools necessary for water system maintenance. The operator will also be responsible for responding to emergency situations and performing physical labor in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform as a crew member in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water lines, valves, fire hydrants, and water meters.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and production system facilities.
- Operate equipment such as utility trucks, dump trucks, compressors, and jackhammers safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of equipment as required.
- Work after-hours and overtime as needed for repairs or special installations, including being on-call after six months of employment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in construction or maintenance-related employment.
- Basic knowledge of manual and power tools.
- Ability to obtain a Utah Class B (CDL) driver's license within six months of hire.
- Ability to become a State certified level IV water distribution operator within the first year and a level IV water treatment operator within two years.
