About the position

The Water Projects Coordinator for Northern Arizona will be responsible for executing various duties aligned with The Nature Conservancy's policies and practices. This role involves managing projects related to natural resource management, networking with diverse stakeholders, and potentially supervising staff and volunteers. The position requires occasional travel and the ability to work under diverse and sometimes challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Execute all duties within the Conservancy's Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Occasionally travel throughout Arizona and the U.S. for meetings and trainings.
  • Work long hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Lead or monitor work groups consisting of staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Manage financial responsibilities including budgeting and contracting with vendors.
  • Network with diverse groups to recruit support for Conservancy programs.
  • Work under minimal supervision and make independent decisions based on analysis and experience.
  • Work in variable weather conditions and on difficult terrain.
  • Lift, push, pull, and move 25 pounds regularly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience in natural resource management or a similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing staff or volunteers.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with various partners.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently within timelines.
  • Effective communication skills in English and other relevant languages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multi-lingual skills and cross-cultural experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of current trends in conservation and land management.
  • 3-5 years' experience in natural resource management or a similar field.
  • Familiarity with land acquisition principles.
  • Knowledge of ecological land management principles.
  • Experience in agriculture, water conservation, and aquatic ecosystems.
