About the position

The Water Quality Product Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery and management of water quality projects. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire project life cycle, from technical sales and proposal development to service delivery. The manager will ensure that gross margin objectives are met and that the quality of services provided is maintained at a high standard. This role requires a deep understanding of customer and market needs, as well as the ability to adapt solutions to meet those needs effectively. The manager will also be co-responsible for sales related to their area and must ensure regulatory compliance for all sales opportunities and projects under their purview. In addition to managing project teams and coordinating activities across various departments, the Water Quality Product Manager will lead Distribution System Water Quality Solutions projects. This includes managing service permits and fostering relationships with regulators to ensure compliance and smooth project execution. The manager will collaborate with IT and Supply Chain teams to develop and implement IT-based services and operational improvements. Furthermore, the role involves identifying improvement needs in distribution system water quality solutions and developing new service offerings related to water quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for controlling and producing reports on sales opportunities and project statuses, ensuring that all activities align with the company's strategic goals. This position requires strong leadership, analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The manager will also be expected to empower their team and foster a collaborative work environment to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure gross margin objectives are accomplished for projects under responsibility.
  • Ensure quality of services provided and service delivery for projects.
  • Co-responsible for sales related to the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for sales opportunities and projects.
  • Manage the entire project life cycle including technical sales, proposal development, and service delivery.
  • Coordinate activities developed by project teams and other involved areas.
  • Analyze and understand customer and market needs and demand.
  • Execute sales activities including development of service proposals.
  • Manage customer requirements and adapt solutions to meet their needs.
  • Lead Distribution System Water Quality Solutions projects and service delivery.
  • Manage service permits for project delivery and co-lead relationships with regulators.
  • Collaborate in the implementation of delivery and operations model for water quality services.
  • Partner with others to develop business relationships.
  • Provide requirements for IT-based services and collaborate with IT Manager.
  • Collaborate on Supply Chain aspects with Operations.
  • Identify improvement needs in distribution system water quality solutions and develop new service offerings.
  • Manage the entire water quality service line life cycle including strategic planning and service delivery.
  • Control and produce reports on sales opportunities and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a technical field.
  • At least four years of experience as a project manager with involvement in sales of water quality services to water utilities or industrial customers.
  • Experience working for a specialized water industry services company or a leading engineering consulting firm.
  • Previous experience in a water utility, preferably as an Operations Manager.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge in water distribution operations.
  • Deep knowledge in water quality issues and management.
  • Leadership and team empowerment skills.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with a 'get it done' attitude.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for presenting proposals.
  • Customer empathy skills to develop relationships.
  • Project management skills for service delivery and project deployment.
