Water Quality Technician

About the position

The Town of Marana is seeking a motivated Water Quality Technician to join its Water Department. This role involves performing technical duties related to the inspection, testing, sampling, and monitoring of water treatment and distribution systems to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. The position is essential for maintaining high water quality standards in the community.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical duties in the inspection, testing, sampling, and monitoring of water treatment and distribution systems.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state-mandated requirements for water quality.
• Conduct field testing and disinfection monitoring.
• Participate in on-call rotation as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of training/education beyond high school equivalency.
• Over three years of experience in water treatment or water quality sampling.
• ADEQ Grade I Water Distribution Certification.
• Ability to obtain ADEQ Grade II Water Distribution Certification within one year of hire.
• Ability to obtain ADEQ Grade I Water Treatment Certification within one year of hire.
• Valid Arizona driver's license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical, a 50-pound lift test, and a respirator questionnaire.

Nice-to-haves

• ADEQ Grade III Water Distribution Certification.
• ADEQ Grade II Water Treatment Certification or higher.
• College coursework in biology, hydrology, geology, chemistry, microbiology, or engineering.
