About The Position

The Water Reclamation Facility Operations Supervisor at the South Cary facility plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of the water reclamation processes. This position involves leading a team, developing operational procedures, monitoring plant performance, and collaborating with various teams to enhance efficiency and sustainability in water treatment. The supervisor will also engage with local stakeholders and address community concerns, making this role vital for both operational success and community relations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a two-year community college or technical institute with an associate's degree in environmental science, engineering technology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience operating a biological nutrient removal (BNR) facility or working in a BNR wastewater treatment plant laboratory.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Possession of a Grade IV wastewater operator certification and ability to obtain land application and spray irrigation certifications within 12 months.
  • Considerable supervisory or leadership experience.

  • Experience with biosolids treatment, management, and disposal.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement daily operational procedures for the treatment plant in collaboration with the Plant Manager.
  • Monitor and analyze plant performance, conducting regular tours to check equipment and processes.
  • Coordinate maintenance and operations activities, ensuring optimal plant efficiency.
  • Collect and organize operational and laboratory data for reporting purposes.
  • Supervise plant personnel, conducting performance reviews and developing training schedules.
  • Act as the Operations Responsible Charge (ORC) for wastewater discharges in the absence of the Plant Manager.
  • Develop contingency plans for process equipment failures and assist with requisitions for necessary parts and supplies.
  • Coordinate safety training and assist with annual budget information for the facility.
  • Serve as the primary contact for outside construction contractors and review design and construction aspects on-site.
