About the position

The Water Resource Recovery Facility Operator is responsible for the monitoring and operation of the Water Resource Recovery Facility under the supervision of the Facility Manager or designee. This role involves operating various equipment, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with established plant practices.

Responsibilities

• Operates pumps, valves, motors, blowers, boilers, mixers, and other equipment to control the flow of sewage and sludge.
• Inspects operating equipment to detect malfunctions and makes adjustments or minor repairs.
• Collects samples of sewage and sludge for analysis and performs simple analysis.
• Maintains daily log and records pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and other data.
• Assists maintenance staff in major and minor repair work as required.
• Performs general maintenance and cleanup of plant equipment, buildings, and structures.
• Operates various plant-related equipment including tractor, backhoe, forklift, and dump truck.
• Transports dewatered sludge to storage pads as needed.
• Completes on-the-job training and implements acquired skills.
• Participates in the training of new operators and shares expertise in wastewater treatment operation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Twelve months experience in a wastewater related field preferred or twenty-four months experience in technical operations and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Ability to lift weights up to 55 pounds and climb stairs.
• Valid driver's license with driving privileges in Ohio.
• Ohio EPA Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate or ability to obtain within three years.
