About the position

The Water Resource Technician at East Polk SWCD plays a crucial role in leading various conservation programs, including Shoreline Restoration, Rain Garden initiatives, Water Monitoring, and Soil Health programs. This position involves collaboration with landowners, community groups, and government entities to foster partnerships and implement effective conservation strategies. The role offers a flexible working schedule, allowing for adaptability in managing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Shoreline Restoration and Rain Garden programs.
  • Oversee the Water Monitoring program.
  • Manage the Soil Health program.
  • Coordinate projects with multiple stakeholders including landowners and government agencies.
  • Implement conservation programs and build partnerships within the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in natural resources or related field or 4 years of experience in the natural resource field.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Understanding of conservation and agricultural practices.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and outgoing personality with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Physical ability to work effectively in various field conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SWCD Programs
  • Knowledge of tree species and planting procedures
  • Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS software
  • Experience with Survey Equipment or JAA in Structural Ag Practices
  • Experience with native and noxious/invasive plant identification
  • Knowledge of Best Management Practices (BMP's)
