About the position

HDR is seeking a Water Resources Civil Engineer to join our team in Tampa, FL, with the possibility of working from our Sarasota or West Palm Beach offices. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of technical specifications for a diverse range of water resources projects. This includes site layouts, grading and drainage, site utilities, and other civil engineering activities. You will prepare construction documents, which encompass drawings, specifications, and associated design reports or technical memoranda. Your ability to exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and modifying standard engineering techniques and approaches will be crucial to your success in this position. As a Water Resources Civil Engineer, you will manage individual tasks and assist senior engineers with various engineering assignments. This role also involves writing and reviewing scopes of work and proposals, ensuring that all project requirements are met. Travel will be required to perform project work on an as-needed basis, allowing you to engage with projects across the United States. Responsibilities

  • Design plans and develop technical specifications for a variety of water resources projects.
  • Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, and design reports or technical memoranda.
  • Exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and modifying standard engineering techniques and approaches.
  • Manage individual tasks and assist senior engineers with engineering assignments.
  • Assist in writing and reviewing scopes of work and proposals.
  • Travel as needed to perform project work throughout the United States.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • PE License
  • Experience in design and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Proficient in site civil design and grading, stormwater design, hydraulic analysis, pump stations, or flood risk management.
  • Experience with design software such as Autocad Civil3D, HEC-RAS, ICPRv4, HydroCAD, and XPSWMM.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments effectively.
  • Commitment to being an active participant in an employee-owned culture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Strong leadership and organization skills
  • Demonstrable experience with analysis, design, reporting, and drawing production independently on multiple assignments.
  • Field experience related to civil construction.
