About the position

The Water Resources Civil Engineer at HDR, Inc. is responsible for the design and development of technical specifications for various water resources projects. This role involves preparing construction documents, managing tasks, and assisting senior engineers with engineering assignments. The position requires travel for project work as needed and emphasizes collaboration and active participation in the company's employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Design plans and develop technical specifications for water resources projects including site layouts, grading and drainage, and site utilities.
• Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, and design reports or technical memoranda.
• Manage individual tasks and assist senior engineers with engineering assignments.
• Assist in writing and reviewing scopes of work and proposals.
• Travel as needed to perform project work.

Requirements

• BS in Civil Engineering
• PE License
• Experience in design and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
• Proficient in site civil design, grading, stormwater design, hydraulic analysis, pump stations, or flood risk management
• Experience with design software such as Autocad Civil3D, HEC-RAS, ICPRv4, HydroCAD, and XPSWMM
• Ability to handle multiple assignments
• Willingness to travel throughout the United States as needed
• Commitment to being an active participant in the employee-owned culture.

Nice-to-haves

• Minimum of 8 years of related experience
• Strong leadership and organization skills
• Demonstrable experience with analysis, design, reporting, and drawing production independently
• Field experience related to civil construction.
