About the position

The Water Resources/Drainage Engineering Associate II position at RS&H in San Antonio is designed for a motivated engineer to join the Water Resources Team. This role involves performing engineering assignments for projects of small to moderate size and complexity, including facility design input, computer-aided design, and construction observation. The engineer will work independently under general supervision, applying standard methodologies to address routine challenges in water resources design, drainage, and stormwater management.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with clients to foster and maintain relationships.
  • Support leadership of the Texas Water Resources team, including client management and project delivery.
  • Design complete projects, systems, components, or processes.
  • Prepare project plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Analyze and interpret data for design and planning studies.
  • Perform cost analyses and site selection for projects.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to resolve complex issues and challenges.
  • Support business development and manage client relationships for long-term engagement.
  • Oversee project performance and execution, mentoring design teams.

Requirements

  • ABET accredited Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in water resources modeling and design.
  • Strong record of leading design teams and fostering teamwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel across the region to meet clients.
  • Working knowledge of CADD (Microstation SS10, ORD, and/or Civil 3D), ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with watershed delineation and hydrological parameters determination.
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS, ICPR 4/StormWise, SRH-2D, and/or SWMM.
  • Riverine and bridge modeling using HEC-RAS.
  • Culvert modeling using HY-8.
  • Drainage Analysis and Design using Subsurface Utilities Design and Analysis (SUDA) for Open Roads Designer (ORD).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EI) certification preferred.
