About the position

This position involves working on diverse projects related to water resources engineering, including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, stormwater planning, and water quality analysis. The role requires collaboration with engineers and scientists to complete technical assignments, prepare reports, and engage with clients and regulatory agencies. The candidate will also supervise project teams and may have short-term assignments in various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Complete water-resources related technical assignments.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analysis related to water supply and aquifer storage and recovery.
  • Plan for stormwater management and flood control.
  • Analyze water quality in mining, urban, and rural settings.
  • Prepare technical reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Design utilities and perform groundwater modeling.
  • Engage in green infrastructure projects and engineering calculations.
  • Review clients' projects related to water rights.
  • Supervise project teams involved in modeling, GIS, and CADD work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources.
  • 10 years of water resources engineering experience focusing on hydrology, hydraulics, and/or water quality.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with water resources challenges such as aquifer storage and recovery and stormwater management.
  • Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling approaches and software.
  • Working knowledge of GIS and CADD software.
  • Experience with proposal development and client management.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and/or water quality.
  • 10+ years of water resources engineering experience.
  • Experience with complex water rights issues.
  • Proven track record leading proposal development and projects along the Wasatch Front.
  • Experience working with water conservation districts, irrigation, or water companies.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client management.
  • Experience with advanced GIS, CADD, and hydraulic modeling software.
  • Strong technical skills in a broad range of civil engineering topics.
  • Experience with site development design and plans and specifications.
  • Construction observation, fieldwork, and surveying experience.
