About the position

The Water Resources position at Black & Veatch focuses on stormwater planning and design, asset management, water quality, and integrated planning. This role is crucial in addressing challenges related to stormwater regulations, flooding, and water quality impairments, while also promoting the use of green infrastructure. The position aims to enhance the company's market share by delivering top-notch planning and water resources services to clients, amidst growing demands for sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of water resources projects as Engineering Manager.
  • Plan, model, and design stormwater improvements, including open channels and stormwater detention facilities.
  • Design green infrastructure and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPs.
  • Plan and design flood mitigation improvements, such as dams and levees.
  • Develop erosion and sediment control plans, including SWPPP development.
  • Manage regulatory compliance and permitting efforts for USACE, FEMA, and other environmental permits.
  • Conduct scenario planning for CSO, SSO, stormwater, and TMDL compliance projects.
  • Apply sophisticated models for collection systems, watersheds, and water quality analysis.
  • Plan for supply diversification and collection/distribution system expansions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience in water resources planning and design.
  • Proficiency with applications and models such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA/XP-SWMM, InfoWorks, ArcGIS, and asset management systems.
  • Experience with regulatory requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to drive client-facing and business development efforts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification in Missouri and/or Kansas.
  • Experience with innovative stormwater and water quality technologies.
