About the position

The Water Resources Scientist position at August Mack involves supporting a variety of hydrologic and water utility projects. The role requires technical expertise and the ability to lead project teams, conduct fieldwork, and manage project metrics under the guidance of experienced personnel. The position is essential for ensuring effective project execution and maintaining high standards in water resource management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and delegate project site visits, reporting, and data collection/analysis efforts.
  • Establish and maintain the project team to oversee and assign projects to professional-level and administrative support staff.
  • Assist or perform field related tasks such as collecting samples, routine laboratory analyses, and operational oversight at wastewater treatment plants.
  • Prepare proposals, budgets, and scopes of work for projects.
  • Assist the Director of Water Resources in tracking project momentum and departmental metrics.
  • Become a subject matter expert in a technical specialty.
  • Perform or supervise non-routine tasks with limited-to-no supervision.

Requirements

  • B.S. in environmental science or related field.
  • 1-5 years of experience in drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, and/or environmental consulting.
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a signatory credential recognized in the State of Indiana and/or other states, such as a Drinking Water or Wastewater license, LPG, CHMM, or PE.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to troubleshoot complicated environmental issues.
  • Effective and professional communication skills.
  • Skills in organization, scheduling, and time management.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in technical research and writing associated with reports and proposals.
