About the position
The Water Systems Electrical/Mechanical Technician at Big River Steel is a critical role within the maintenance team, responsible for performing electrical and mechanical maintenance functions to ensure the continuous operation of all service equipment in a heavy industrial environment. This position requires a trained and experienced individual who can install, maintain, repair, and operate a variety of electrical and mechanical systems using specialized tools and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform all electrical and mechanical maintenance functions necessary to maintain operating and service equipment.
- Install, maintain, repair, and operate a broad range of electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
- Work with variable frequency drives, soft starts, semicode relays, and PLC controls.
- Open and close breakers and understand safety risks associated with high voltage systems.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to address any issues that arise during operations.
- Read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
- Utilize computer skills for maintenance system tracking and documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing and/or industrial experience or equivalent education.
- Experience with industrial electronics, motors and controls, and electrical power systems.
- Knowledge of AC/DC theory, test instruments, and instrumentation.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.
Nice-to-haves
- Mechanical understanding is a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience with instrumentation such as pressure switches and load cells.
