About the position

The CAD Drafter position involves assisting in the development of scaled design plans that encompass grading, paving, drainage, and other related engineering materials as part of contract engineering drawings. The role requires a solid understanding of CAD standards and Civil 3D features, including annotation styles, line styles, sheet set manager, and drawing setup. The CAD Drafter will work under limited supervision to utilize CAD programs and tools effectively, capturing, creating, updating, and maintaining design data. This includes interpreting and clarifying engineer redlines, design notes, and as-built drawings, ensuring that all work is complete and accurate before internal review. In this role, the CAD Drafter must demonstrate proficiency in developing 2D civil design drawings and possess a working knowledge of 3D design concepts. The position also requires collaboration with engineers and senior designers, ensuring that project schedules and quality requirements are met with accuracy and efficiency. The CAD Drafter will be responsible for modifying existing drawings to reduce the need for new drawings and creating new drawings when necessary, all while adhering to internal standards. Additionally, the role may involve active participation in project delivery, which includes communication via phone or email, attending meetings, and managing other project documents necessary for completion.

Responsibilities

• Aid in the development of scaled design plans with grading, paving, drainage, and other related engineering materials.
• Utilize CAD programs and tools to capture, create, update, and maintain design data.
• Interpret and clarify engineer redlines, design notes, and as-built drawings.
• Ensure the completeness and accuracy of all work completed.
• Modify existing drawings to minimize the need for new drawings and create new drawings when necessary.
• Understand and meet project schedules and quality requirements with accuracy and efficiency.
• Self-check all work performed to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to internal review.
• Assist in the delivery of a complete project, including correspondence, meetings, and project documentation.

Requirements

• Completion of technical school with CAD design certificate or associate degree or equivalent experience in the Engineering field.
• 2 or more years of AutoCAD and engineering design experience with a professional civil design/consulting firm or comparable experience.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, construction, and civil plans.
• Understanding of engineering principles and assembly, fabrication, and construction workflows.
• Knowledge of project management software and computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Procore.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment dedicated to meeting deadlines.
