About the position
The Water Treatment Plant Operator position at the Croton Filtration Plant involves entry-level responsibilities in the operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities. Under the supervision of certified operators, the role includes training in various operational systems, conducting water quality tests, and assisting in the delivery and calibration of treatment chemicals. This position is essential for ensuring the provision of high-quality drinking water and the effective management of wastewater.
Responsibilities
- Receive training in and assist in operating the facility's SCADA and HMI systems.
- Assist in collecting water samples and performing water quality tests.
- Help in using the facility work management system to execute work orders and perform housekeeping tasks.
- Assist in the delivery and calibration of water treatment chemicals.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and report any abnormal conditions.
- Prepare daily operations and activity reports, maintaining accurate records.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or an Associate Degree in a related field.
- 1 year of experience working with water or wastewater treatment equipment or mechanical equipment.
- Valid Driver's License in the State of New York.
Nice-to-haves
- Ability to keep electronic logs of operations and maintenance activities.
- Ability to operate equipment through SCADA or PLC systems.
- Ability to work independently and take water samples.
